Falcons Back To Work For 2009

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green volleyball team took part in its first practice of the 2009 season Monday morning. Ten returners and four newcomers make up the roster as the Falcons look to build on three consecutive 20-win seasons.
Bowling Green has a 37-11 record in the MAC over the past three years but must replace a talented three-person senior class from a year ago. Senior Corey Domek was a second team all-conference player a year ago and returns as the most decorated player on the roster. Fellow seniors Kaitlin Jackson and Shari Luther will also be looked to for leadership both on and off the court.
Head coach Denise Van De Walle enters her 27th season as head coach of Bowling Green in 2009 needing just 13 wins to reach 500 for her career. She ranks among the 30 winningest active coaches in Division I and has been named MAC Coach of the Year four times.
While Van De Walle will need to find a way to replace the highly touted senior class, she has gone a long way towards doing that with the group of incoming freshmen. Bowling Green was one of only two Mid-American Conference schools to receive a high honorable mention ranking by PrepVolleyball.com.
