Shari Luther Named MAC East Offensive Player Of The Week

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green senior middle Shari Luther was named the Mid-American Conference's East Division Offensive Player of the Week Monday after leading the Falcons to a 4-0 record and championship at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Tournament.
Luther led Bowling Green with a .430 attack percentage and 13 blocks. Her 42 kills in the four matches ranked second on the team and she added three service aces. The four wins to start the season is the best opening for a Bowling Green volleyball team in eight years.
In a season-opening win over Loyola, Luther had 13 kills and a .565 attack percentage. She followed that up with 11 kills without an error on 26 swings in a four-set win over Robert Morris. She had seven kills and .538 attack percentage in an easy three-set win over Howard and had 11 kills in the team's five-set win over Duquesne to clinch the tournament title.
For Luther, it marks the first time she has received a MAC weekly award in her career. She will lead the Falcons into the Radisson New Orleans Airport Privateer Invitational Friday and Saturday looking to remain undefeated.
