1989 Volleyball Team To Be Honored Saturday

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green athletic department will be celebrating the 20-year anniversary of the first Mid-American Conference volleyball champions in program history Saturday, recognizing the 1989 team at the volleyball match and football game that day. As well, the volleyball team is holding alumni day Saturday.
The team will be honored right after Saturday's 3 p.m. volleyball match at Anderson Arena against Buffalo. Following that, the team will be recognized at the football game against No. 8 Boise State following the third quarter of the 7 p.m. kickoff.
The 1989 volleyball team went 20-11 and won the program's first MAC Championship by going a perfect 8-0 in conference play. The team won 10 consecutive matches at one point midway through the year and 15-of-16 overall to turn around a 2-7 start.
