Mike Emrick to Serve as Guest Emcee in Return to BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – In conjunction with “Rob Blake Night” as supported by the “Bring Back the Glory” campaign, professional hockey broadcaster Mike Emrick will return to BGSU to emcee the event.
Emrick will serve as guest emcee to the pre-game reception for former Falcon and NHL great, Rob Blake. The event is in support of the Bring Back the Glory campaign and will be held on Nov. 6 from 5-6:30 pm at the Mileti Alumni Center.
Emrick will also introduce Blake on the ice prior to the Falcons' home game with Notre Dame University. Face off for the game is set for 7:05 pm.
He earned his doctorate degree from BGSU in Radio-TV Film in 1976. BGSU was also the origin of his nickname, “Doc”. Prior to enrolling at BGSU, Emrick was an undergraduate work at Manchester College (North Manchester, Ind.) and completed his master's degree in radio/television at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) in 1969.
He is most widely known for his broadcasting work in the hockey world, most recently as the lead play-by-play announcer for hockey coverage on NBC and VERSUS. Emrick was also the lead broadcaster for the United States men's and women's hockey teams in the 2010 Winter Olympics.
In his career, Emrick has worked on telecasts for 22 consecutive Stanley Cup Playoffs, 12 Stanley Cup Final series and eight NHL All-Star games. He is a nine-year member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection committee and is entering his 18th consecutive season as the television voice of the New Jersey Devils. Emrick has also worked in college hockey with CSTV, men's and women's water polo, NCAA men's basketball regional coverage, the World Luge Championships, Foot Locker International Track Series, Philadelphia Flyers and has been the radio broadcaster of over 100 New York Ranger hockey games.
