Falcons Deal Cardinals Heart-Breaking Loss
February 14, 2010 | Gymnastics
BOXSCORE
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team showed no love to Ball State on Valentine's Day, downing the host Cardinals 191.575-190.475 inside Worthen Arena in Muncie, Ind.
The Falcons, who have now won four consecutive meets, after opening the season 0-2, moved to 3-0 in Mid-American Conference play with Sunday's win.
As has been the case in several meets this season the Falcons trailed heading to the balance beam, but after posting a score of 48.075 (BGSU's second-best beam performance of the year) compared to BSU's 46.200 the Orange and Brown rolled to victory. The top score came from senior Breanne Guy, who posted a 9.800 to finish first. Queenita Gamble and Megan Chronister were also impressive, posting scores of 9.625 and 9.600 respectively.
On vault Danielle Wishart finished in a tie for second with a score of 9.750. Freshman Sunny Marchand finished fourth (9.700).
While the balance beam may have been where the Falcons pulled away, they also were impressive on the uneven bars, posting a score of 48.150, their second-highest team mark of the season. BGSU was led by Monica Eaton, who finished second, followed by Amber Brewer (9.675) and Guy (9.650).
Wishart led the Falcons on the floor with a score of 9.700 to place third, while Christman was not far behind, scoring a 9.650.
BGSU (4-2, 3-0 MAC) used a trio of Falcons in the all-around, led by Guy (38.375), Kasey Fillmore (37.975) and Dawn Christman (36.500) to post the victory.
The Orange and Brown will return to Anderson Arena on Feb. 21 as they play host to the Eastern Michigan Eagles, starting at 2 p.m.
