PROCHASKA HAS HONEGGER IN HER SIGHTS
Lauren Prochaska, just a junior, already has etched her name in the BGSU record books numerous times ... in Saturday's win at Ball State, she passed former Falcon Liz Honegger to move into sixth place on the school's career scoring list ... and, Prochaska is poised to pass Honegger on another BGSU list ... with 215 career three-point field goals made, Prochaska is just one away from tying, and two shy of breaking, Honegger's school record ... Honegger had totals of 216 three-pointers made and 1,522 points in her storied BGSU career ... more on Prochaska's climb up each list can be found in the following two notes.
PROCHASKA NOW SIXTH
Junior Lauren Prochaska, as mentioned, now sits in sixth place on the BGSU career scoring list, with a total of 1,528 points in her collegiate career ... she passed no fewer than four players on that list in the Miami game (Jan. 19), and moved ahead of Liz Honegger (1,522 points from 2003-07) in Saturday's (Feb. 6) win over Ball State ... Prochaska's next target on the list is fifth-place Francine Miller, who had 1,580 points from 1998-2003 ... Kate Achter ranks fourth, with 1,580 points from 2004-08) ... Prochaska is averaging 16.6 points per game, the second-highest average in BGSU annals, in her storied Falcon career.
TREY BIEN! PROCHASKA NEARING THE TOP OF THIS LIST
A pair of juniors are moving up the BGSU career list for three-point field goals made, with one of those two players nearing the school record ... Lauren Prochaska, as mentioned, hit six triples at Ball State, and is in sole possession of second place on that list ... with 215 long-range makes in her career to date, she is just one behind school record-holder Liz Honegger ... Honegger made 216 triples from 2003-07 ... Tracy Pontius, in just her second year as a starter, ranks ninth on the list, with 136 threes in her career.
FALCONS LOOKING FOR 20
The Falcons have a total of 19 wins this season to date ... BGSU entered the 2009-10 season having won at least 20 games in six consecutive years, a school record ... prior to the current run, the longest such streak was four-straight seasons, by the Fran Voll-coached teams of the late 1980s ... the Falcons need one more win this year to tie the MAC record of seven consecutive 20-win seasons, set by Kent State from 1995-96 to 2001-02.
BGSU ALREADY AT THE TOP OF THIS LIST
The Falcons are looking to win at least 20 games for the 15th time in school history, the most of any MAC school ... other than BGSU, only Toledo (13) and Kent State (11) have posted 20 or more wins on 10 or more occasions.
A WINNING MAC RECORD
With a 9-1 MAC record, the Falcons have clinched a winning league mark for the seventh consecutive year ... the school record is nine consecutive winning records in MAC play, from 1985-86 through 1993-94 ... Fran Voll was the head coach for the first six years of that streak, with Jaci Clark at the helm for the latter three.
MILLER REACHES 100 MAC WINS ...
BGSU's 83-71 win over Eastern Michigan (Jan. 23) was the 100th MAC victory in Falcon head coach Curt Miller's career ... entering the CMU game, Miller now has a career record of 103-35 in conference games as a head coach ... Miller, who holds the school records for overall and MAC wins, became just the seventh coach in MAC history – and the second fastest – to amass 100 league victories.
... AND APPROACHES 200 OVERALL WINS
If the Falcons win two of their next 15 games, BGSU head coach Curt Miller will become the fastest coach to 200 overall wins in MAC history ... Miller has a 198-78 overall record in his ninth year at the Falcon helm ... he has moved into third place on the MAC list for career wins, and is just two away from the 200 mark ... Miller trails only Kent State's Bob Lindsay and former Toledo coach Mark Ehlen on the MAC list for overall wins ... the lists of winningest MAC women's basketball coaches can be found in the PDF version of these notes.
FASTEST TO 200 OVERALL WINS (at a MAC school)
Coach -- Reached 200 total wins in ...
Mark Ehlen (Toledo) -- 292nd career game
Bob Lindsay (Kent State) -- 308th
CURT MILLER (198 wins in 276 games)
MILLER LOOKING TO JOIN AN ELITE GROUP
Curt Miller, who became the winningest coach in BGSU women's basketball history two years ago, is looking to become only the second basketball coach at the school (men's or women's) to reach the 200-win mark ... the legendary Harold Anderson had a 367-193 (.655) record in 21 years at the helm of the BGSU men's program.
I LOVE MY MICHIGAN
The Falcons have enjoyed success in the state of Michigan as of late ... BGSU has won four consecutive games in the state, and the Falcons have won 13 of the last 14 contests played in Michigan ... BG's lone loss in the Great Lakes State during that time came to Michigan State in the 2008 WNIT in East Lansing ... since the start of the 2005-06 season, the Falcons have posted three road wins against Detroit, and two apiece vs. Oakland and each of the state's three MAC schools (Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan) ... and, the Brown and Orange downed both Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt in the 2007 NCAA Championships First & Second Rounds in East Lansing.
LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons erased a double-digit in the second half, battling back for a narrow road win, 80-76, over Ball State on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 6) ... junior Lauren Prochaska had 26 points, including 23 in the second half, to lead the Falcons ... Prochaska made a career-high six three-pointers in the win, moving her within just one made trey of the BGSU career record ... senior Tamika Nurse scored 15 points, including 12 in the second half, while classmate Tara Breske had a double-double, with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds ... the Cardinals got a 28-point, nine-rebound performance from Emily Maggert, while Audrey McDonald chipped in with 16 points, including four three-pointers ... BSU scored the final five points of the first half to take a 35-30 lead into the intermission, and the Cards got off to a quick second-half start ... out of the lockerroom, BSU scored nine points in less than two minutes, taking a 44-33 lead on Maggert's layup with 18:14 left ... the Cardinals' lead was once again in double figures after a Patrice King jumper at the 16:59 mark ... but, the Falcons proceeded to go on an 18-0 run, holding BSU scoreless for nearly seven minutes while taking the lead for good ... the Cards got back within two points on a McDonald three with 1:34 remaining, and BSU was within three points twice in the final minute, but Nurse hit 6-of-8 free throws in the game's final 84 seconds ... Prochaska was 8-of-11 from the field, including a 6-of-8 performance from three-point range.

SENIOR PRIDE
As mentioned, the Falcons' win at Ball State was the 105th victory for the team's three fourth-year seniors ... even if BGSU doesn't win another game this year, those three players – Tara Breske, Laura Bugher and Sarah Clapper – will have finished their careers with an average of 26.25 wins per season ... In MAC games over the last five years (plus 10 games), the Falcons have no fewer than 80 victories ... BGSU has averaged 14.4 conference wins per year over the last five full seasons, no small feat considering each team plays just 16 MAC games per season) ... in fact, BG's average win total in MAC play nearly doubles the program's total number of losses (nine) during that span of over five years.
BLOCK PARTY
Senior Tamika Nurse had a career-high three blocked shots at Ball State ... Nurse entered the game with four total blocks this season and seven in her collegiate career.
LEADERS OF THE MAC

PRODUCTIVE AT THE STRIPE
As mentioned, the Falcons are shooting a MAC-best .784 from the free-throw line this season ... last year, BGSU had a school-record FT percentage of .794, a rate that ranked fourth in the nation and was the 15th-highest figure in NCAA Division-I history ... individually, junior Lauren Prochaska is shooting .914 from the line this season to date, and is ranked second in the country (as of Feb. 7) ... last year, Prochaska led the nation with a .933 FT rate.

CAPTAINS
Seniors Tara Breske and Sarah Clapper and redshirt junior Maggie Hennegan are the captains of the 2009-10 Falcons ... Breske is a captain for the second consecutive year ... the captains earned that distinction in a vote of their teammates ... the award is particularly impressive in Hennegan's case, as she was chosen as a captain before ever playing her first game as a Falcon.
UP NEXT
The Falcons return to Northwest Ohio for a rare February home game, facing Ohio in Saturday (Feb. 13) action at Anderson Arena ... tipoff is 2:00 p.m., and the contest is the team's annual 'Pink Zone' game in support of breast cancer awareness.
