
Falcons Post Highest Score in Five Years in Loss to CMU

The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team fell 196.350-194.375 to Central Michigan on Sunday (Mar. 21) inside Anderson Arena. The meet was the final tune-up for both squads before the 2010 Mid-American Conference Championship on Sat., Mar. 27.
Despite the loss, the Falcons' 194.375 was their highest score of the year, posting a season-best on the beam, and finishing near the top on the other three events. In fact that team score was BGSU's highest since the 2004-05 squad posted a 196.100 versus Southeast Missouri State and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The loss pushes the Falcons to 5-7 overall and 4-2 in the MAC, finishing third in the regular season behind Kent State and the Chippewas.
The Falcons opened the day on the vault, posting a score of 48.475, their fourth-highest score of the year. BGSU was led by a pair of 9.825's by Dawn Christman and Sunny Marchand, both season-highs, finishing in a tie for second in the dual meet. The 9.825's were also the third-highest marks by a Falcon in 2010.
BGSU continued its hot start on the uneven bars where they posted a score of 48.675, their second-highest mark of the year. Leading the way was freshman Monica Eaton and senior Breanne Guy, both recording marks of 9.8000 to finish in a tie for fourth. Amber Brewer finished third among the Orange and Brown, scoring a 9.750, her second-best score of the year.
In event three the Falcons moved over to the always interesting balance beam, where they posted their best mark of the season, scoring a total of 48.450. Their previous-high was just two weeks ago at West Virginia when they scored a 48.350. In this week's match-up the Falcons were led by Christman, who scored a 9.750, followed by Kasey Fillmore (9.700), Megan Chronister (9.675) and Guy (9.675).
On the final event BGSU scored a 48.775 on the floor exercise, their third-highest score this season. Wishart finished third with a 9.850 and Christman was seventh with a 9.775.
Up next for the Orange and Brown will be the 2010 MAC Championships, an event the Falcons will host in Anderson Arena on Mar. 27, beginning at 2 p.m.
