Volleyball Team Holds End-Of-Season Awards Banquet

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green volleyball team held its annual end-of-season awards banquet Sunday, recognizing seniors Kaitlin Jackson, Corey Domek, and Shari Luther for their outstanding careers.
The coaches handed out awards for on-court and off-court success and a highlight video was shown. Pat Peterson, the first coach in BGSU volleyball history, was on hand to present the inaugural Patricia Peterson Academic Achievement awards, given to any volleyball player who earned a 4.0 grade point average for a semester. Peterson coached the team from 1976-79, compiling a record of 58-41-3 in the early stages of the program.
Luther was named the team's Most Valuable Player and the Offensive Player of the Year, as well as receiving the Patricia Peterson Academic Achievement Award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA in both the spring and fall semesters of 2009.
The Bowling Green volleyball team went 13-20 in 2009 and finished 5-11 in MAC play. The Falcons upset rival Toledo in the opening round of the MAC Tournament, handing head coach Denise Van De Walle her 500th career victory. After opening MAC play with six consecutive losses, the Falcons hung tough and improved throughout the year, splitting the team's final 10 league games.
