Volleyball Team Holds Open Scrimmage Saturday
April 06, 2010 | Volleyball
Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green volleyball team will hold an open scrimmage Saturday in Anderson Arena at 10 a.m. against Oakland University. The scrimmage will serve as an opportunity for fans to get a sneak preview of the 2010 team.
The scrimmage will last until approximately 3:30 p.m. with a break in the action for lunch at noon. It is free for anyone to watch. The morning session will consist of competitive drills and the afternoon session will be a match-type atmosphere.
A pair of local Bowling Green sisters will be pitted against each other during the day as junior Brittany Dunn competes for Oakland, while her sister Ashley Dunn enrolled at BGSU a semester early and will be a freshman for the Falcons in 2010.
Bowling Green Head Coach Denise Van De Walle will begin her 28th season at the helm in 2010. She has a career record of 500-342, picking up her milestone 500th win in a victory over rival Toledo in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament during the fall. The Falcons graduate three seniors from the 2009 team and will be led in 2010 by three more seniors -- Alex Zlabis, Noelle Spitler, and Sam Fish.
The 2010 season will also be the final year in which the Bowling Green volleyball team competes in Anderson Arena. The Falcons will move into the Stroh Center in time to open the 2011 campaign.
