LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend Bowling Green traveled up to Ypsilanti, Mich. to play the EMU Eagles and dropped two-of-three. In both losses, Eastern Michigan came from behind in their last at-bat to complete the win. On Friday (4/2) EMU hit a three-run home run to break a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the eighth in BGSU's 4-1 loss. On Saturday, Bowling Green took a two-run lead in the top of the ninth after Patrick Martin hit his first career home run, but allowed three runs in the bottom of the ninth in a 9-8 decision to Eastern Michigan. Sunday, Kevin Leady gave the Falcons 7.1 hard innings with ten strikeouts. Combined with freshman Matthew Pitzulo's 2-for-4, two RBI day the Falcons held on to a 4-3 win on Sunday (4/4). In their mid-week action with Michigan State, the Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead before surrendering a four-run fourth inning to the Spartans. Though the relief pitching combined for 5.2 innings and allowed only one unearned run the rest of the way, the Falcons dropped Tuesday (4/6) afternoon's game, 5-2.
THE SERIES - FALCONS vs. CARDINALS
Bowling Green will meet Ball State University this weekend in a pairing that features last year's East and West Division regular season champions. The all-time series between the Falcons and Cardinals favors BGSU, 52-42-2. Last season, the Falcons swept Ball State in a three-game series by a combined score of 19-15. Bowling Green has also won five of the last six games played between the two teams.

BLANTON EXTENDS HITTING STREAK TO 18
Entering last weekend's series with a team-high 18 game hitting streak, #T.J. Blanton# had at least one hit in each of BGSU's games with the EMU Eagles and added two more hits against Michigan State (4/6) to extended his career-high hitting streak and longest active team hitting streak to 18 games. At 18 games, only ten players in all of college baseball have longer hitting streaks, and Blanton has the longest in the MAC. The longest active streak is 23 games, by Nick Martini of Kansas State.
LEADY NAMED MAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK AFTER OUTING VERSUS EAGLES
As announced by the Mid-American Conference office on Wednesday, April 7th, Kevin Leady was named MAC Pitcher of the Week after his performance against EMU (4/4). Leady tossed 7.1 innings against the Eagles allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out a new career-high ten batters. He struck out the side twice in the game and had four of his ten K's in the first two innings of the 4-3 win. In his last two outings, he has struck out 15 batters, walked three and only allowed eight runs (six earned) in 14.2 innings. He now leads the team pitching staff in innings pitched (37.1), strikeouts (33) and wins (3).
SPENCER HEATING UP!
After a slow start at the plate, last year's All-MAC selection Derek Spencer has seen his batting average and season total increase more rapidly over his last nine games. Since March 24 against Central Michigan, Spencer has seen his batting average raise 69 points to date, but raise as many as 82 points. Against EMU (4/2-4/4) Spencer went a combined 6-for-12 (.500) with three RBI with a double and a triple. He had a season-high four RBI against CMU on a 3-for-5 day including a base-clearing, three-RBI double.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS FOR MARTIN
Prior to an injury that kept sophomore Patrick Martin out of the lineup for nearly two weeks, he had been held without a hit through five games. However against Eastern Michigan (4/3) he got his first hit of the season two games after returning to the line up. More memorable than that, Martin hit his first collegiate home run the very next day, at the time breaking a 7-7 tie in the top of the ninth in a 9-8 loss. He ended that day going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and a double as well.
