Ashley Dunn Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University freshman libero Ashley Dunn was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week Monday, as announced by the league office.
Dunn helped guide the team to a 3-2 record during the week, including a 3-1 mark at the University of Pittsburgh's Blue and Gold Invitational. Dunn had 99 digs for the week, averaging 4.71 per set, including a pair of 20-dig matches and at least 16 digs in every contest.
During a mid-week match against Wright State, Dunn had five assists and two service aces to go with her 18 digs. She followed that up with a career-high 26 digs in the team's four-set victory over St. Francis (Pa.), adding another ace.
In a hard-fought five-set loss to Pittsburgh, Dunn posted 19 digs and an ace before finishing with 16 digs in a five-set win over Eastern Illinois. She completed the week with 20 digs in a three-set sweep of Robert Morris. She also had 49 serve receives without an error in the final two matches of the weekend.
For the season, Dunn has an active streak of six consecutive double-digit dig matches and has finished with at least 10 digs in 10 of the team's 14 matches. She ranks seventh in the Mid-American Conference with 3.94 digs per set on the year.
Bowling Green is 5-9 on the season and opens conference play this weekend on the road at Akron Friday night and at Buffalo Saturday evening.
