Miller and his staff graduated six seniors off of last year's roster. The 2010-11 Falcons won 28 games, captured MAC East Division and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the fifth time in seven seasons.
This year's youthful squad features just one senior on the active roster. Tri-captain Jessica Slagle has helped the Brown and Orange to 84 wins and three national tournament appearances (two NCAA, one WNIT) during her first three seasons.
Redshirt junior Danielle Havel and true junior Chrissy Steffen are the other tri-captains for the '11-12 Falcons, Other veterans on the BGSU active roster include juniors Simone Eli and Allison Papenfuss. The sophomore class consists of Jillian Halfhill, Jill Stein and Noelle Yoder.
Alexis Rogers will begin her first playing season at BG. Rogers, a transfer from Duke University, sat out last season in accordance with NCAA rules, and has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
The freshman class includes Deborah Hoekstra, Kaila Hulls, Jasmine Matthews, Shanique Ogle and Logan Pastor. Hulls recently suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and is likely sidelined for the season. Additionally, fourth-year Falcon Maribeth Giese was medically disqualified.
Wednesday's exhibition is scheduled to be aired on WBGU-FM 88.1, the flagship station for Falcon women's basketball. The audio broadcast also will be available, free of charge, on BGSUFalcons.com. And, as is the case for all home Falcon basketball action, live stats will be available at BGSUFalcons.com as well. BCSN is also slated to air Tuesday's game in the Toledo area.
Findlay comes to BGSU to play an exhibition game for the sixth consecutive November. Last season, the Brown and Orange picked up an 88-41 win (Nov. 3, 2010) at Anderson Arena, with four players, including Halfhill, scoring in double digits for the Falcons.
The Oilers have won the South Division of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in each of the last two years. Coach Kate Cummings will look to 2010-11 all-league selections Laura Bardall and Clare Aubry (a transfer from Toledo) to lead her club. The Oilers went 17-10 a year ago.
For BGSU, the regular season begins with a game at Dayton on Friday, Nov. 11. The regular-season home opener -- the Falcons' first regular-season game in the Stroh -- is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17, against Purdue. The Purdue contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
