QUICK HITS
• The Falcons picked up the first win of the season on Sunday (Nov. 20), downing Evansville by a 71-54 final at BGSU's brand-new Stroh Center ... junior Chrissy Steffen had 16 points to pace three players in double digits for the Brown and Orange.
• One hundred monkeys typing on 100 typewriters for 100 years probably wouldn't be able to list all of the career bests that BGSU players achieved on Sunday (but the monkeys probably could come up with a better set of game notes than those you are currently reading) ... no fewer than nine of the 11 Falcons who played in the game set or tied a career-best total in at least one category.
• A pair of sophomores led the way, as Noelle Yoder and Jillian Halfhill shattered numerous prior career bests ... Yoder had 14 points vs. Evansville, doubling her previous best of seven points ... she also set career standards in field goals made (five) and attempted (10), three-pointers made (three) and attempted (seven) and minutes played (16) ... Yoder also had her first career steal in the game.
• Halfhill also set a career scoring best, with seven points vs. the Purple Aces ... she also set career standards in assists (five) and steals (three), and tied her previous high-water marks in field goals made (two), free throws made (three) and minutes played (27).
• Redshirt junior Danielle Havel set a career mark with 10 rebounds vs. UE, and played a career-high 36 minutes in the win ... Havel also set a career standard in field-goal attempts and tied her prior marks in field goals made and blocked shots.
• True junior Allison Papenfuss tied her bests with eight rebounds and a blocked shot in the UE game, while Steffen set a career high for field goals attempted ... and, senior Jessica Slagle made a career-best four field goals in the win.
• Redshirt soph Alexis Rogers had a career-high nine rebounds, and two freshmen set new bests, albeit in the third career game for each ... Jasmine Matthews set new marks for points, field goals made and attempted, three-pointers made and steals ... Logan Pastor posted season- and career-high totals in free throws made and minutes played, and tied her best in assists.
• The Falcons are now 1-1 in games played at the Stroh Center ... the first-ever regular-season game in the state-of-the-art facility was a narrow, 54-53 loss to nationally-ranked Purdue on Thursday (Nov. 17) ... the Boilermakers scored with 13.5 seconds left, and a last-second three-point try by BG bounced off the iron.
• Head coach Curt Miller and his staff return nine letterwinners – but just one starter – from last year's 28-5 team ... Steffen, the lone returning starter, was chosen to the Preseason All-MAC Team.
• Not only is Steffen the lone returning starter, she was the only player on the BGSU roster to have started even one collegiate game prior to the 2011-12 season opener at Dayton ... that group included Halfhill, Havel, Rogers and Slagle.
