Falcons Head to Omaha for Sunday Date with Bluejays

The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team, after taking a break from competition for fall semester exams, faces another difficult test this weekend ... the Falcons of head coach Curt Miller jet to Omaha, Neb., for a Sunday (Dec. 18) game vs. Creighton University ... tipoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. locally (2:05 p.m. Eastern) at CU's Ryan Center & D.J. Sokol Arena.

• The Falcons are looking to extend a seven-game winning streak ... after starting the season with losses to Dayton and Purdue, BGSU has posted victories over Evansville, Detroit, Western Kentucky, Butler, Youngstown State, Austin Peay and Jacksonville ... five of the seven wins have come at BG's brand-new Stroh Center.
• BGSU is facing Creighton for the third time, but Sunday marks the teams' first-ever meeting in Omaha ... both prior matchups came at Anderson Arena ... the first game between the teams was an 84-73 win by the Bluejays on March 16, 1994 ... that contest came in the first round of the NCAA Championships.
• The Falcons and Bluejays also met last season at Anderson (Nov. 15, 2010), in BG's home opener ... the Brown and Orange posted a 79-53 win, in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated ... the teams were tied, 30-30, at the half, and Creighton was within two points with 15:38 left in the second stanza before the Falcons reeled off 16-straight points en route to the win.
• BGSU and Creighton lost a combined seven senior starters (BGSU four, CU three) off of last year's teams ... the Bluejays' returning players combined to score 31 points in last season's meeting at BG ... for the Falcons, the players on the active roster combined to score just 24 points in last year's game.
• The Falcons posted a pair of lopsided victories last weekend at the Stroh Center, downing Austin Peay and Jacksonville by a combined 64 points ... of the 13 players on BGSU's active roster, 11 of them averaged double-digit minutes played in the two games ... 12 of the 13 players scored a total of six or more points in those two contests.
• Redshirt sophomore forward Alexis Rogers was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week on Monday (Dec. 12), earning that honor for the first time in her collegiate career ... Rogers averaged 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game as the Falcons went a perfect 3-0 in last week's games ... she led the team in both scoring and rebounding on the week, as BGSU won by an average of over 25 points per game.
• BGSU head coach Curt Miller, the winningest coach in program history, achieved yet another milestone in Sunday's (Dec. 11) win over Jacksonville ... the win was the 241st of Miller's head-coaching career, moving him into sole possession of second place on the MAC list for overall victories ... he moved past former Toledo head coach Mark Ehlen (currently an assistant at MAC member Miami Univ.) ... Ehlen amassed 240 total wins with the Rockets from 1996-2008 ... Kent State's Bob Lindsay has a firm hold on the top spot, with 413 wins during his tenure with the Golden Flashes.
• BGSU led from wire to wire vs. Jacksonville, opening up a 38-21 lead at the half and continuing to pull away in the early moments of the second period ... the Falcons shot 57.7 percent from the field after halftime en route to a 52.7% field-goal rate for the game ... at the other end of the court, the Falcons held JU to just a 21-for-72 (29.2%) performance from the field.
