With the win, the Falcons improve to 4-2 on the season. BGSU has won four consecutive games after an 0-2 start. The Bulldogs drop to 1-6.
Junior Chrissy Steffen also had 15 points to tie for game honors. Steffen hit a game-high three three-point field goals.
Rogers, a redshirt sophomore, had 14 points and led the Falcons with eight rebounds as BGSU had a 37-27 advantage on the boards. BG pulled down 25 second-half rebounds to Butler's 10.
The Falcons led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the Bulldogs ended the half on a 12-3 run, scoring the last six points of the period to cut BG's lead to 34-29 at the break.
The Falcons began the second half on a 10-1 run -- with Slagle and Rogers combining for all 10 BG points during that stretch -- to up the lead to 14 points once again.
Butler battled back within seven points, but Slagle fed Rogers for a layup with 11:39 left, and freshman Jasmine Matthews followed with a jumper. BU got a Sarah Hamm bucket, but Rogers kicked the ball out to Slagle for a three-point field goal, putting BG ahead by 12, 53-41, with nine minutes left. The Falcons' lead never fell below double digits again.
Hannah Douglas had 15 points, while Hamm scored 14 and Haley Howard 11 for the Bulldogs. BU shot nearly 49 percent from the field to the Falcons' 41.7% in the game, but the visitors committed 24 turnovers, including 15 in the opening half.
The Falcons had 15 steals on the afternoon, marking the team's fourth double-digit steal total in six games this season.
BGSU got three points on the team's first offensive possession of the day, but the Falcon offense struggled for the next few minutes. That first possession saw Steffen drain a second-chance three-pointer, one of eight BG triples on the day, for a 3-0 lead.
BU responded with a pair of free throws from Hamm, and neither team would score for more than two minutes after Hamm's second toss. After a Rogers steal, sophomore Jillian Halfhill's layup gave the Brown and Orange a 5-2 lead at the 16:36 mark.
The game featured a total of 47 fouls, and BG redshirt junior Danielle Havel was whistled for her second foul of the game just nine seconds after Halfhill's basket.
Hamm stepped outside the arc and hit a three-pointer, tying the score at 5-5, but Rogers came up with another steal, took a pass from Slagle and knocked down a triple at the 15:07 mark, giving the Falcons the lead for good.
Less than a minute later, Hamm picked up her second foul, and the Bulldogs' starting center headed to the bench with 14:10 left before halftime.
Sophomore Jill Stein made two charity tosses, and Steffen followed with a three-point shot that bounced around the rim and dropped through, giving the hosts a 13-5 lead.
Devin Brierly answered with a triple of her own, but Slagle drove the right baseline and hit an 'and-one' layup. Her free throw after the 11:58 media timeout put BG ahead by a 16-8 lead.
The Falcons' lead stayed between five and eight points over the next few minutes, as Stein hit a layup, Matthews took a Steffen pass and hit a trey, and Stein knocked down another shot from close range. The latter shot, which came after freshman Logan Pastor made a left-side drive and a Tim Tebow-esque jump-pass to Stein for the layup and a 23-15 lead.
After a steal by Stein, Pastor fed Havel for a three-pointer on the break, and BG's lead was 11 points as the Bulldogs took a timeout.
BU got a Douglas hoop as the clock ticked under five minutes, but Steffen proceeded to score five-straight points for the home team. First, she took a cross-court pass from Havel and hit a triple from the left elbow. Then, the junior drove the lane and converted a layup for a 31-17 lead as the teams entered the final media timeout of the half.
The Bulldogs, however, scored 12 of the final 15 points of the half to get within five points at the break. Brierly hit a three-pointer with 1:46 on the clock, and Howard banked home a crazy shot as the whistle blew with 45.5 seconds left in the half. She completed the three-point play with a free throw that cut BG's lead to 34-29 at the intermission.
Slagle and Rogers, as mentioned, paced a 10-1 run to begin the second half. After a Butler steal within the first 10 seconds of the period, Rogers drove the lane, drew Hamm's third foul and hit a pair of free throws with 19:33 left.
Slagle knocked down a pair of charity tosses, then hit a layup when the seas parted and a wide path suddenly opened between her and the basket. The resulting shot gave BG a 40-29 lead with 17:52 remaining.
Douglas split a pair of free throws, but Rogers took a pass from Steffen and made her second three-pointer of the game, putting the Falcons up by 13, 43-30.
Slagle made a free throw for a 14-point Falcon advantage with 15:58 remaining. But, the Bulldogs would not go away. BU scored the next four points, beginning with a triple by Howard. Havel answered with two free throws, but she was then assessed her fourth foul with 14:05 on the clock.
Mandy McDivitt took an inbounds pass from Brierly and drained a three-pointer from the corner, and BG's lead was cut to single digits. Then, Douglas hit a layup to shave the margin to seven points, 46-39, with 11:52 left in the game.
Slagle's nifty pass inside resulted in an easy layup for Rogers, and Matthews knocked down a shot at the 10:52 mark for an 11-point lead. Hamm came right back with a jumper for the visitors, but moments later, Rogers found Slagle beyond the arc, and the senior's triple try was on target, putting the Falcons ahead, 53-41, with 8:59 left.
BG's lead reached a game-high 18 points on two Pastor free throws with just over five minutes left, and the Falcons led by 15 after Havel's jumper with 2:35 remaining before Butler ended the game on a 7-2 run.
For the Falcons, the Butler contest was the first of four games in a nine-day stretch. BGSU hits the road for a Tuesday (Dec. 6) game at Youngstown State, before returning to the Stroh Center to face Austin Peay (Dec. 9) and Jacksonville (Dec. 11) next weekend.
