BGSU Finishes Third Behind Ohio State and Western Michigan
The BGSU gymnastics picked up a pair of losses to Western Michigan and Ohio State last Sunday in a tri-meet. Ohio State won the event (195.450), followed by WMU (192.650) and BGSU (190.400). Despite the loss the Falcons picked up nine season-bests between the four events. Sophomore Monica Eaton came in third for individual results in the uneven parallel bars with a team and personal record score of a 9.750.
Falcons Post Several Season-Bests
As mentioned before, individually the Falcons had nine new season-bests, but as a team they did the same. The Falcons posted a new season-high for total score (190.400), on bars (48.125), beam (46.700) and floor exercise (48.100).
Series Versus Kent State
Kent State is 40-11-1 all-time versus the Orange and Brown. The Golden Flashes have won the last 10 meetings, with BGSU's last win over Kent State coming in the 2001-02 season.
Scouting KSU
Kent State comes into Sunday's meet with a 6-1-1 record, but have yet to compete in conference. KSU competed last Saturday, finishing second in a four-way meet, posting a team score of 194.675. Michigan won the meet with a score of 195.875. Maryland was third (193.800), followed by Illinois-Chicago (189.875).
The House That Roars
The Falcon gymnasts built a new nest in Anderson Arena in 2009 and that continues today. Since moving to Anderson Arena the Falcons are 5-4 inside the “House That Roars”. With volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball moving into the Stroh Center in 2011, Anderson Arena will solely be the home for BGSU gymnastics next season.
Falcons Announce 2011 Captains
BGSU head coach Kerrie Beach has announced that seniors Amber Brewer and Lexi Psichopaidas, along with red-shirt junior Kasey Fillmore and sophomore Danielle Wishart will serve as captains for the 2011 campaign.
Beach Leads BGSU
Head coach Kerrie Beach begins her fourth season at the helm of the BGSU gymnastics program. Last season Beach helped coach the team to a five-match win streak and a 4-2 conference record, both best in nearly a decade. She has an 19-31 overall record and is 9-11 in Mid-American Conference play.
Falcons Picked Sixth In 2011 Preseason Poll
The Mid-American Conference announced the 2001 gymnastics preseason poll on Jan. 4, with the Falcons picked to finish sixth among the seven team field. The poll was voted on the league's head coaches. Kent State was picked to win the league.
