Falcons Close Out Regular Season With Loss at CMU

COMPLETE RESULTS
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team dropped a 194.825-191.350 decision Saturday afternoon in Mount Pleasant, Mich., to the Central Michigan Chippewas. The loss closes out the 2011 regular season for BGSU.
Despite the loss, the Falcons will head to the Mid-American Conference Championships competing at their top level, coming off back-to-back top performances. Last week at Kentucky BGSU scored a season-high 193.800 and scored a 191.350 this afternoon, their top-two performances of 2011.
BGSU opened the meat on the uneven bars, posting a team score of 47.100. Monica Eaton led the way with a 9.725, finishing fifth in the meet. Amber Brewer, who was coming off MAC Specialist of the Week for her efforts on bars, posted a 9.675 to finish seventh.
In rotation two the Falcons scored a 48.250 on vault, with Dawn Christman and Danielle Wishart finishing in a tie for first, scoring 9.775's.
The Falcons scored a 48.575 on floor, an event they have dominated in recent weeks. Christman continued her strong meet, scoring a 9.825 to finish fourth. A pair of freshmen, Megan Harrington and Megan Valentini finished in a tie for eighth, each scoring a 9.700.
BGSU's final event of the afternoon took place on the balance beam, where the Orange and Brown totaled a 47.425. Harrington scored a 9.700 to lead the Falcons, followed by Kasey Fillmore (9.600).
Fillmore finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 38.525, a season-best.
Up next for the Falcons will be a return trip to Mount Pleasant, Mich., for the 2011 MAC Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Mar. 19.
