Falcons Win 6-of-8 Sets In Spring Fling

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team completed its spring season by winning 6-of-8 sets in the final volleyball matches in Anderson Arena history at the Spring Fling. The Falcons swept two sets against IPFW and Northwood, while splitting sets with Toledo and the BGSU Alumni team.
In the first match, BGSU won the opening set over the alumni 27-25 and then lost the second set 25-24 (time expired before a team could win by two points). In the second match, the Falcons beat IPFW 25-13, 25-17 and the team followed that up by splitting with Toledo 25-18, 19-25. In the final match, Bowling Green beat Northwood 27-25, 25-19.
On the day, Paige Penrod led the way with 37 kills (4.63 per set) and hit .284. She added five aces, 19 digs and seven blocks. Danielle Tonyan had 22 kills (3.14 per set) and Lindsey Butterfield hit .347 on the day with 20 kills. Lauren Mizgalski had eight kills in 14 swings for a .571 efficiency. Defensively, Ashley Dunn had a team-high 32 digs (4.00 per set) and Kari Galen had eight blocks. Emily Kauth added six blocks.
