Falcons Finish Third at Kentucky Classic

The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team finished third at the Kentucky Classic with a team score of 188.925. No. 4 Oklahoma won the event with a score of 195.875, followed by No. 23 Kentucky (194.325). Wisconsin-Oshkosh finished fourth (174.725).
BGSU's lineup featured six returners from last season, with three freshmen seeing action. One of those new faces, Jamilah Ali, finished second in the all-around with a combined score of 37.775. The freshman scored 9.725 on vault, 8.700 on bars, 9.625 on beam and 9.725 on floor.
Bowling Green got off to a terrific start Saturday night, compiling a 48.425 team score on the floor exercise, with all six Falcons scoring at least a 9.525. Danielle Wishart finished sixth among 24 gymnasts on the floor, scoring a 9.750.
The Falcons moved over to vault in the second rotation and totaled 48.500, led by Dawn Christman, who scored a 9.775 to finish ninth. Wishart finished 12th with a 9.750.
After two rotations the Falcons had a team score of 96.925, but totaled just 92.000 on beam and bars combined. The Falcons scored a 45.475 on bars with Monica Eaton leading the way with a 9.475. Megan Valentini scored a 9.625 on beam as the top Falcon finisher.
The Orange and Brown will return to action on Jan. 14 (Sat.) as they host Central Michigan at 6 p.m. inside Anderson Arena. Admission is free!
