Paige Penrod Named MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University junior volleyball player Paige Penrod has been named the Mid-American Conference's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
Penrod, who holds a 3.33 grade point average in pre-early childhood education, was named MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the BGSU volleyball team to the tournament championship and a 3-0 record. She recorded double-doubles in each match, beginning with 12 kills, 19 digs and two aces in a three-set sweep of Eastern Michigan in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, Penrod led the team to a five-set win over Western Michigan with 14 kills and 20 digs. She closed out the weekend with 17 kills and 28 digs in a thrilling five-set win over Northern Illinois that sent the Falcons to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1991.
At 21-10 on the season, Bowling Green will compete in the NCAA Tournament Friday against Yale at 5 p.m., hosted by Penn State. With a victory, the Falcons would then face the winner of No. 1 Penn State vs. Binghamton at 7:30 p.m. the next day.
