Lindsey Butterfield Named Capital One Academic All-District

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green junior outside hitter Lindsey Butterfield was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Butterfield is a key member of the BGSU volleyball team and holds a 3.89 grade point average in biology.
In order to qualify for the Capital One Academic All-District teams, student-athletes must not be a freshman and must hold at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. Butterfield is one of eight members of the District 5 team, joining Stephanie Arnold of Eastern Illinois, Meg Riley of Miami (Ohio), Lindsey Dulude of Central Michigan, Anna Dorn of Illinois, Bailey Yeager of Southern Illinois, Ariel Turner of Purdue and Megan Campbell of Dayton.
Butterfield ranks third on the Falcons with 2.87 kills per set and is hitting .251 on the season. She also has 47 blocks and a .943 serve receive percentage. She has helped lead the team to first place in the Mid-American Conference with a 12-2 league record.
By being named all-region, Butterfield will be a candidate for the Capital One Academic All-America award, along with the other all-region winners from the eight districts. She is the first Falcon to receive First Team Academic All-District honors since Emily Manser in 2004 and is one of only five BGSU players to ever be named to the first team.
