KENNESAW, Ga. – The Bowling Green State University softball team hits the road again this weekend to participate in the Phyillis Rafter Memorial Tournament. The Falcons will play in five games over a three-day span, starting with back-to-back contests against Campbell University and Jacksonville State on Friday, Feb. 22. Bowling Green's second day of action pits the Falcons against Northern Colorado at 10 a.m., followed by host Kennesaw State at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Orange and Brown close out the weekend with a 10 a.m. game against North Carolina State on Sunday.
Bowling Green just finished up a one-game weekend down at the USC Upstate Invitational, as three of the Falcons' four games we're cancelled due to snow. Bowling Green came away with a 1-0 win over George Washington in their only contest, earning the Falcons a 1-0 record in the early part of the season. The Orange and Brown's cancelled games included matchups with George Mason, Winthrop and Samford University.
Against GW
Senior Hannah Fulk recorded the only hit of the game for Bowling Green, going 1-for-1 with a run scored and a stolen base. Sophomore Jamie Kertes (1-0) picked up the win, allowing just one hit and striking out five in four innings of work. Fellow Sophomore Paris Imholz pitched the final three innings of the contest, striking out three while allowing just three hits.
Up The Charts
Sophomore Paris Imholz picked up the save in the lone Falcon victory, giving her eight over the course of her young career. Imholz is now tied for the most save saves in the history of the program, matching the career totals of Vicki Miwa (1986-88) and Lisa Mountjoy (1992-95). Senior Hannah Fulk recorded two walks in the Falcons' 1-0 win, moving her closer to Hayley Wiemer's all time mark.
