Ypsilanti, Mich. – The Bowling Green track and field team will compete in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship Friday and Saturday at Eastern Michigan. The Falcons have qualified to compete 19 times in 14 different events at the meet. Competition begins with the pentathlon Friday at 10:30 a.m. and then begins again Saturday at 10 a.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 3-12) for a one day pass or $15 for adults and $8 for youth for an all-session pass. Fans are encouraged to purchase pre-sale tickets online at EMUTix.com as the meet is expected to sell out.

PERSONAL BESTS
In Bowling Green's season-opening meet, the Falcons set or tied 23 personal records at the Eagle Holiday Meet. Following that meet, the team set or tied 21 personal bests in the Bowling Green Opener. At the Harvey-Simmons Invitational, the team added another 14 personal bests before recording 19 at the Tom Wright Classic. The Falcons added 10 more personal bests at the Akron Invitational two weeks ago.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
BGSU will be represented in an individual event at the MAC Championship 17 times. Those spots are nailed down by seven freshmen, four sophomores, four juniors and two seniors.
PLEGER SETS THE PACE
Sophomore Brook Pleger enters the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championship ranked fifth in the league in the weight throw. In the first meet of the year, she set her career best with a toss of 59-feet-8.25 to win the Eagles Holiday Meet and meet the automatic qualifying mark for the Indoor MAC Championships. She pushed her personal best to 61-10.25 at the Harvey-Simmons Invitational, her third consecutive victory of the year. She last competed two weeks ago at the GVSU Big Meet and again set a personal best with a toss of 62-1.25. Pleger currently ranks 51st nationally in the event.
SWEET SIXTEEN-HUNDRED
BGSU's 1600 relay foursome of Brittany Sinclair, Felicia Jefferson, Demetra Taylor and Allison Weimer ran as a team for the first time this year at the Akron Invitational. The squad posted a time of 3:49.24 to finish in second, less than a second behind Kent State. That time was almost four seconds faster than any other BGSU relay team this year. A week later, the team trimmed another half-second of their time with a 3.48.74 at the GVSU Big Meet.
WEIMER VAULTS INTO CONTENTION IN 400
Senior Allison Weimer used the final indoor home meet of her career to move into the top 15 in the Mid-American Conference in the 400. With a race-winning time of 56.92 (converted from 57.67), she bettered her career best of 57.75.
BREAKING THE EIGHT SECOND “BERRY”ER
Freshman Berrion Berry won the 60 at the Tom Wright Classic with a time of 7.86 seconds. It was the second consecutive week in which she set a new personal best and the first time she had posted a time faster than eight seconds.
LEAPS AND BOUNDS
After setting new personal bests in the long jump in each of the first three meets of the season, sophomore Krystin Reiser competed in the pentathlon at the Akron Invitational and posted the 11th best mark in the MAC this year in the event with a score of 2,759. Of the five events (800, 60 hurdles, high jump, long jump, and shot put), Reiser's best score came in the 800 where she ran a 2:33.73 for 647 points.
NEW FACES
Second-year head coach Lou Snelling announced the addition of two new assistant coach in October. James Gildon works primarily with the team's jump, sprint and hurdle groups, while McKayla Plank assists with both the cross country and track and field programs. Gildon comes to BGSU after serving as an assistant coach at Fort Hayes State University, while Plank was a standout distance runner at Georgia.
ACADEMIC SUCCESS
The BGSU track and field team has been named a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for each of the past six years. The Falcons had a 3.24 combined grade point average to earn the award in 2012, fifth-best among MAC schools.
