LAST TIME OUT
BGSU's 1600 relay team broke a school record as the Falcons made strides at the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 22-23. The relay team placed fourth with a time of 3:46.89, while the team also got a strong performance, as expected, from Brooke Pleger. She placed fifth in the weight throw with a personal best distance of 61-feet-11.5. In unexpected fashion, Brittany Sinclair was the surprise of the meet. Seeded 19th in the 400, she shocked by placing eighth in the preliminaries to make the finals and then went two spots higher, placing sixth in a time of 56.70.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
Of the 19 student-athletes expected to compete at the UC Early Bird Relays, 15 are either freshmen or sophomores (nine frosh and six sophomores) with just two juniors and two seniors.
ACADEMIC SUCCESS
The BGSU track and field team has been named a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for each of the past six years. The Falcons had a 3.24 combined grade point average to earn the award in 2012, fifth-best among MAC schools.
