Live Scoring
When the tournament begins on Friday the Falcons, behind head coach Stephanie Young, will feature a lineup of one senior, one junior, two sophomores and a freshman. All but the freshman have experience at the MAC Championships.
The lone senior is Amy Ruthenberg, a Falcon that will be making her third appearance at the MAC Championships. Ruthenberg is third on the team with a 78.47 scoring average and is coming off back-to-back top-10 finishes, ending the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational tied for ninth and finishing seventh at the Angola Shootout.
Junior Bailey Arnold will also be competing in her third MAC Championship. Arnold leads the team with a 77.25 scoring average, which according to www.mac-sports.com, places her sixth in the conference in scoring average. Arnold has four top-5 finishes this season (Cleveland State Invitational, Butler Fall Invitational, The Preview and the Colonel Classic).
Sophomores Patricia Holt and Shelby Wilson, while young, will each be competing in their second league championship. Holt is second on the team with a 78.44 scoring average and is playing some of her best golf of the season, coming off a fourth-place finish at the Angola Shootout last weekend. Holt also has top-5 finishes at the Ursuline Tournament, Cleveland State Invitational and Butler Fall Invitational. Fans can also view a two minute with Holt at the bottom of this page.
Wilson finished tied for 28th at last year's MAC Championship. This season she enters play with a 78.55 scoring average. The sophomore's best tournaments came at the Butler Fall Invitational (finished fourth) and the Rio Verde Intercollegiate (finished fifth).
The final Falcon competing this weekend is freshman Lily Bartell. In her first year as a Falcon she averaged 78.95, the third lowest scoring average by a freshman in school history. Bartell's top accomplishments this season are a ninth-place finish at Cleveland State, finishing 10th at the Butler Fall Invitational and 13th at The Preview.
That finish at The Preview is an important one. That tournament, which was held back on Oct. 15-16, was held at the same location as this week's events ... Longaberger Golf Club. Back in October the Falcons finished second of 15 teams at The Preview, an event that also featured eight teams from the MAC. Ball State won the event with a 621, followed by BGSU with a team score of 624.

Falcons In MACs
The Falcons' best finish ever in the MAC Championships is a fifth-place finish during the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 season. Below are the all-time finishes at MACs for the Orange and Brown.
1998-99 - 1039, 6th (54 holes)
1999-00 - 998, 5th (54 holes)
2000-01 - 967, 5th (54 holes)
2001-02 - 990, 6th (54 holes)

Setting Records
BGSU will enter Saturday's action with a team scoring average of 310.10, which will in all likely-hood set a new school record for lowest team scoring average in a season. The current BGSU record is 318.57, set last season. The team also has two tournament victories this season, which is just the third time in BGSU history that feat has been accomplished. The 1992-93 team won three tournaments that year, while the 2005-06 Falcons added two tournament victories that season.
Best Ever?
Junior Bailey Arnold will enter the Angola Shootout with a season scoring average of 77.25, which if the season ended today, would be the lowest single season scoring average in the history of BGSU women's golf. The current record is held by Shelly Binzel, who averaged 78.35 during the 2002-03 season.
Adding to the Record Books
When the season ends, Arnold may in fact rank at the top of the BGSU scoring list, but she won't be the only Falcon to post her name into the record books. If the season ended today Patricia Holt would rank third in school history with a scoring average of 78.44. Amy Ruthenberg would be fourth (78.47), followed by Shelby Wilson (78.55, 5th), Lily Bartell (78.95, 6th) and Hannah Lewis (79.71, 9th).
Coach of the Year Candidate?
A BGSU women's golf coach has never been named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year. Could that possibly change in 2012-13? Head coach Stephanie Young and the Falcons have two tournament wins in 2012-13 and three runner-up finishes. The Falcons have also finished third, fourth (x2) and fifth in a tournament and captured the Ohio Cup for the second consecutive year with a 7-5 win over Ohio. BGSU has finished in the top-5 in nine of ten tournaments this season.
According the www.mac-sports.com the Falcons rank fourth in the league in scoring average, less than three shots behind the University of Toledo. BGSU is third in the MAC in top-10 finishes and is just one of three league schools to win a tournament this season.
