COMPETITORS
BGSU will be the only MAC team competing at the invitational. Other competitors swimming, many top ranked in their divisions, are Arkansas, Campbell University, Colorado State University, Indian River, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida State University, Georgia Tech, University of Florida, University of Miami (FL) and Vanderbilt. Teams entered only in the diving competitions are Auburn University, Clemson University, College of Charlston, University of Utah, University of South Carolina and Tulane University.
WHAT THE COACH IS SAYING
Head Coach Petra Martin: "The Georgia Tech meet will be something that we have never done before as a team and it will be certainly very different from our usual competition. The meet will be featuring some of the best programs in the country for both swimming and diving. We don't normally get a chance to compete against teams such as Auburn, UVA, University of Florida and more so it will be a test of our ability to focus on what is important, what we can control and being able to tune out all the other hype around us. It will be also a great experience and a chance for both the swimmers and the divers to learn first hand about what the best in the country are doing and how they handle their racing. It will be hands down the best invitational we have ever gone to, but we are all certainly looking forward to mixing things up and getting out of our comfort zone. Our goals for the swimmers are to be able get some final swims at night. For divers the goal is to keep on improving on what they have done the last few weeks and to add more difficulty level to their routine. We will not be competing them in the platform competition of the meet at this point but we certainly want them to pay close attention to what will be done on the platform so that they can take it into their future training for that event."
LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons won eight events Saturday afternoon, defeating both Oakland and MAC opponent, Eastern Michigan. Estela Davis won three individual events and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay team. BGSU won 155-145 against previously unbeaten EMU and beat Oakland, 155-139. The Orange and Brown remain undefeated this season, currently sitting at 3-0. Both teams were ranked first in their conferences going into the meet, according to CollegeSwimming.com. The Falcons are now 2-0 against MAC competitors this season.
GRIFFIN'S SUCCESS CONTINUES TO 2014-15
