Bowling Green, Ohio – Team White hit .234 and posted 66 digs to sweep Team Orange Saturday at Bowling Green State University's annual Orange and White volleyball scrimmage. White posted a 27-25, 26-24, 15-7 victory.

The match was formatted as three sets with the third set being to 15 points. Team White rallied late in each of the first two sets before jumping out to an early lead in the third to earn the victory.

Team White consisted of senior Kelsey Bates, sophomore Madeline Garda, redshirt freshman Desi Klaer, true freshmen Paige O'Connor and Katie Scholten, and assistant coach Jessica Hohl. Team Orange was made up of senior Erica Fullenkamp, sophomores Jelena Sunjic and Delaney Arkeilpane, and freshmen Michaela Gabanic, Nicole Slimko and Clara Martinez Rubio.

In the first set, White trailed by as many as four points and rallied from a 23-21 deficit to get the victory. In the second set, Orange led 21-19 and 24-23, but White got a pair of kills from O'Connor sandwiched around a Bates/Klaer block for the win. After hitting just .107 in the first set, White hit .306 and .391 in the final two stanzas.

There were numerous strong individual performances among both teams. Sunjic had a match-high 16 kills in a losing effort, while O'Connor and Bates added 14 and 13 respectively for the winning side. Arkeilpane had a match-high 28 digs for Orange, while Garda added 26 for white. Bates added seven blocks and Klaer and Martinez Rubio had four each.

BGSU will open the season Friday as the Falcons host the Hampton Inn Invitational, featuring six NCAA Division I matches over two days in the Stroh Center. Pittsburgh and Middle Tennessee State will compete at 3 pm Friday, followed by Bowling Green and Dayton at 5 pm. On Saturday, there will be four matches beginning with Dayton vs. Pittsburgh at 10 am. The Falcons will face Middle Tennessee State at noon leading into the evening session. MTSU will square off with Dayton at 5:30 pm and BGSU will close out the tournament against Pittsburgh at 7:30 pm.
