FLYNN SCORES FIVE, FALCONS DOWN FINDLAY
Sophomore Pat Flynn exploded for five goals – all in the first half – as the Falcons flew past Findlay on Tuesday night (Sept. 2) at Cochrane Field. Flynn tied the school records for both goals and points (11) in the victory. The Falcons scored seven goals before halftime, with the last five coming in a span of just under 13 minutes late in the half. Senior Danny Baraldi, sophomore Joe Sullivan and freshman Brad Macomber also had goals for the hosts, while redshirt sophomore Max Auden, true soph Jacob Roth and freshman Prayag Jina each had a pair of assists in the win. Redshirt sophomore goalkeepers Nick Landsberger and Ryan Heuton combined for the shutout, playing 45 minutes apiece. Landsberger was not called upon to make a save in the first half, while Heuton made one stop in the second period. BG had advantages of 23-6 in total shot attempts and 15-1 in shots on goal.
BG TOPS IUPUI, 2-0, IN SEASON OPENER
Goals by Pat Flynn and Danny Baraldi lifted the Falcons to a 2-0 win over IUPUI on Friday night (Aug. 29), in the season opener for both teams at Cochrane Field. Flynn scored in the 27th minute to give the hosts the lead for good, and Baraldi doubled that lead with an unassisted goal just over an hour into the match. Nick Landsberger made five saves to earn the shutout in his collegiate debut.
ONE MATCH, ONE CONFERENCE AWARD FOR LANDSBERGER
Redshirt sophomore Nick Landsberger was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday (Sept. 1). Landsberger earned the honor after making five saves, including several acrobatic stops, in the Falcons' 2-0 win over IUPUI. The clean sheet was his first as a Falcon, as he was making his BGSU debut.
FLYNN'S FIVE-GOAL FLURRY V FINDLAY
Sophomore Pat Flynn tied the school single-match records for both goals and points in Tuesday's (Sept. 2) win over Findlay. Flynn's totals of five goals and 11 points matched the records originally set by Don Popp, who had five goals and an assist in an 11-0 BGSU win over Toledo on Sept. 16, 1981. A few more notes about Flynn ...
• Flynn has six goals and 13 points in his first two matches as a Falcon. Last year, BGSU's leading scorer, Ryan Comiskey, ended the season with totals of six goals and 13 points.
• No Falcon had scored as many as three goals in a match in nearly five years, since a Cameron Hepple hat trick vs. Dayton on Sept. 18, 2009. Flynn recorded his third goal of the night just 35:26 into the contest. And, beginning with that third goal, the Naperville, Ill., native had three goals in a span of just 8:19.
• Flynn has scored the match-winning goal in each of his first two contests as a Falcon.
THE FALCON 400
BGSU's season-opening win over IUPUI was the 400th victory in program history. Following Tuesday night's win over Findlay, BGSU now has an all-time record of 401-343-78 since the inception of the varsity program under Mickey Cochrane in 1965. Cochrane was at the field bearing his name on Friday evening as BG downed IUPUI, and a host of former BGSU men's soccer greats were in town as well for the program's Alumni Weekend festivities, which included the IUPUI match as well as a golf outing on Saturday. Nearly 400 letterwinners (374 entering the 2014 season) have played a part in helping the Falcons reach that 400-victory plateau.

The first series matchup saw Duquesne post a 3-0 win over the Brown and Orange at Cochrane Field 12 years ago (Sept. 8, 2002).
