Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced today that five Bowling Green State University volleyball players were named to the league's Academic All-MAC team. Seniors Kelsey Bates and Erica Fullenkamp, along with sophomores Delaney Arkeilpane, Madeline Garda and Alyssa Maloney all earned recognition.
In order to qualify for Academic All-MAC status, a student-athlete must excel in both athletics and academics. A student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and must also participate in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible for the honor.
"I am so proud of our whole team, and these fine young women who were recognized, for their outstanding academic accomplishments," BGSU Volleyball Coach Danijela Tomic said. "They represent BGSU's academic excellence and best epitomize the type of student-athlete who we recruit in our program. They are not only excelling on the volleyball court, but more importantly in the classroom."
