With the loss, Bowling Green falls to 5-6 (1-3 MAC), while MAC-leading Central Michigan improves to 8-3 (4-1 MAC).
Â
"I am disappointed in the overall effort by the team today," said head coach Kerrie Turner. "They seemed unfocused and did not work together to keep the energy going throughout the competition. Vault and beam were rough spots for us, in particular. We will need to be stronger mentally in order to reach our team goals this season. Now, it will be important for us to put this meet behind us. And focus on returning home to Anderson Arena to get back on track."
Â
The Falcons scored a 48.725 on floor, 48.675 on bars, 48.125 on vault and 47.175 on beam. Bowling Green's 48.675 on bars tied the team's second-best score on the apparatus this season, while the 48.725 on floor ranked fourth best for BGSU in 2015.
Â
Individually, junior Caroline Ellingboe scored a team-high 9.875 on bars to place third in the event. The 9.875 for Ellingboe is a career high. Freshman Laura Mitchell earned a 9.850 on beam to place second on the apparatus, while sophomore Lauren Feely placed tied for second on vault with a 9.850. Feely has now scored at least a 9.800 on vault in seven of Bowling Green's eight competitions in 2015.
Â
Feely had a strong day for the Falcons. She also scored a season-high 9.700 on beam to finish fourth. The 2013 MAC Freshman of the Year also scored a 9.775 on floor to place tied for sixth.
Â
Two other Falcons – freshmen Jordan Rae and McKenna Schoenberger – also scored 9.775 scores to tie with Feely for sixth on floor. The 9.775 for Schoenberger is a career high. Rae also posted a 9.750 on bars to finish eighth. Placing slightly ahead of Rae on bars was freshman Morgan Denlinger, who finished tied for sixth by earning a career-best 9.775. Â
Â
Alyssa Nocella – the only gymnast at the competition who recorded an all-around score – placed fifth on bars by recording a 9.800. Officially, it will go down as Nocella's fourth straight first-place finish in the all-around. Senior Amanda Lievendag also made a contribution, as she placed tied for seventh on vault with a 9.750.
Â
The Orange and Brown will return home to Anderson Arena to host Western Michigan on Feb. 28. The meet – which will be the team's Pink Meet – will begin at 4 p.m. The competition will also serve as Faculty/Staff Day. After traveling to Piscataway, New Jersey to take on Rutgers and West Chester on March 7, Bowling Green will conclude the regular season at home against Kent State on March 14.Â
