BGSU faces UIC on Sunday morning in the Windy City
The Bowling Green State University tennis team concludes the non-conference schedule this weekend, heading to Chicago for a Sunday (March 15) match vs. UIC. The Falcons of head coach Olga Elkin will meet the Flames in a match scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. locally (11:00 a.m. Eastern) at XS Tennis.

"We are looking forward to getting back to action after a few weeks off," said Elkin. "We were able to use the break to get some much-needed rest and recovery, and we are excited to have several of our injured players back on the court and ready to go."
After being forced to field a partial lineup in each of the last two matches, Elkin and assistant coach Stephanie Dalmacio will be able to put a full flock of Falcons on the court on Sunday. BGSU, ravaged by injuries, had just five players in the lineup at Michigan State on Feb. 21, and only four players travelled to IPFW for the team's Feb. 27 match.
The Falcons have been idle since that IPFW match two weekends ago. The young and shorthanded Falcons were forced to forfeit at the third doubles flight and the fifth and sixth singles flights against the Mastodons.
UIC enters Sunday's match with a record of 2-6 in dual-match play, and the Flames are looking to snap a two-match losing streak. Last weekend, UIC went on the road and dropped a 7-0 decision to Michigan State (March 6) and a narrow 4-3 result to Eastern Michigan (March 7). The team's wins have come against Saint Louis (4-3, Feb. 13) and Southeast Missouri (6-1, Feb. 22).
The Flames were picked to finish third in the Horizon League in 2015, according to the league's preseason coaches' poll. UIC went 8-13 overall and 5-3 in HL play last season, snapping a streak of 17-straight league championships. Head coach Shannon Tully welcomed back just two letterwinners from last year's team.
UIC and BG have crossed paths earlier this season, as the Flames competed at the BGSU Invitational in September.
BGSU leads UIC, 12-9, in the all-time series between the teams, and the Falcons captured a 5-2 victory at the Perrysburg Tennis Center last season (Feb. 9, 2014). In BG's last road match vs. the Flames, the Brown and Orange picked up a 5-2 victory in Griffith, Ind., two years ago (March 17, 2013). That win snapped a four-match winning streak for the Flames. The teams have met in each of the last 18 seasons.
Following this weekend's match, the Falcons will begin Mid-American Conference play by hosting Northern Illinois University. That match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Keefe Courts on the BGSU campus, weather permitting.
