Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team will play in three tournaments this spring as announced by head coach Danijela Tomic today. The Falcons graduated just two seniors from the 2014 team and will compete without a senior on the 2015 roster.
BGSU will open the spring with tournaments at Eastern Michigan on March 28 and at Michigan on April 11. The team will close the spring with a tournament at Oakland on April 18.
At Eastern Michigan, each match will be one set to 25 points. The team will play Oakland at 9:30 am, followed by Eastern Michigan at 10:30 am. The Falcons will then face Northern Michigan at 11 am, Madonna at noon, Wayne State at 1 pm and Concordia (Mich.) at 2 pm. Tournament play will begin at 2:30 pm with matches taking place every half-hour through the 4:00 pm championship.
The Michigan Spring Tournament on April 11 will feature teams from Cleveland State, Oakland and Ball State, along with BGSU and the hosts. Bowling Green will face Michigan at 10 am and Oakland at 11:15 am. The Falcons will then play Cleveland State at 1:15 pm and will conclude with Ball State at 2:30 pm. Matches will be best 2-of-3 sets to 25 points each.
A full list of teams and a schedule of matches is yet to be announced for the Oakland tournament on April 18.
Bowling Green head coach Danijela Tomic, beginning her fourth year at the helm, will look to develop a young, but experienced, team into a contender in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons return a cornerstone piece in All-MAC junior-to-be Jelena Sunjic, along with three other juniors. BGSU has a strong group of five sophomores and will add five freshmen to the program.
