March 06, 2015 | Volleyball
Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University volleyball coach Danijela Tomic has announced the hiring of Bowling Green native Kayla Krieger as the Director of Volleyball Operations for the program. Krieger is a BGSU graduate who has six years of experience coaching volleyball.
Â
"I am excited to complete my staff with the addition of Kayla," Tomic said. "Kayla has a skill set and work ethic that will make her an outstanding DOVO. Moreover, she has a passion for BGSU and Bowling Green, and she will be a great ambassador for our program."
Â
Krieger has a bachelor's degree from BGSU in relational communication with a career focus on sales and promotions. She has been an assistant volleyball coach at Northwood High School since August of 2013 and served as head volleyball coach for Latitude 41, designed to help high school girls learn the skills and teamwork to play at that level.
Â
Krieger has also served in a variety of roles outside of the coaching profession, including working as a public relations intern at Wood Lane, a circulations assistant at Wood County District Public Library and an account manager for DayMark Safety Systems.
Â
"I am very excited to be a part of an amazing volleyball program," Krieger said. "I am so thankful to Coach Tomic for giving me this opportunity. I have been a part of the Bowling Green community my entire life and now I am so appreciative of becoming of part of this Falcon Family under the volleyball program."
Â
Krieger will join a BGSU program beginning its fourth year under Tomic in 2015. The 2014 team had just two seniors and no juniors and the 2015 squad will be an experienced, yet youthful team. Among nine returners is junior-to-be Jelena Sunjic, a first team All-MAC player this past fall despite missing almost all of the non-conference schedule with an injury. Tomic has also announced a five-person signing class that should provide depth and competition for playing time immediately.
