With a Sixth Place Finish, Women's Golf Rounds Out Dayton Fall Invitational

Final Results
KETTERING, Ohio – After the second and final round of play at the Dayton Fall Invitational, the Bowling Green women's golf team rose in the standings for a tie of sixth place overall. The Falcons increased from eighth place on Monday, to sixth place on Tuesday in the 14-team field with a final round score of 315, leading to a two-day total of 635, +75.
"It is always a positive to see improvement from the previous day's round and to move up the scoreboard," Bowling Green women's golf head coach Stephanie Young said. "However, overall we performed below expectations this week. It will be important to stay focused and strive for a solid finish to the fall in our last upcoming event."
A standout in the Falcons second round success was sophomore Erin Fahey, who rose from a tie for 28th after the first round to a final placing in a tie for 14th overall. The native of Austin, Texas hit a low round of 74 for a two-day total of 153, +13, earning her highest individual finish since the Redbird Invitational, where she earned ninth overall.
Freshman Brooke Nolte has now finished in the top-two on the Falcons leaderboard for the fourth consecutive event of the season with her final score of 154, +14 at the Dayton Fall Invitational. The Melissa, Texas native shot rounds of 76 and 78 in the 36-hole tournament.
Participating in her first event of the season was sophomore Julia Durkin, where she tied for 51st overall. Durkin, a native of Miramar, Fla. carded rounds of 83 and 80 for a two-day total of 163, +23, which placed her third overall on the Falcons team leaderboard.
Rounding out the team participants from the Bowling Green squad was senior Fran Rodriguez and sophomore Sarah Kern. The pair each marked a final score of 166, +26 to tie for 58th place. Rodriguez turned in rounds of 82 and 84, while Kern shot two rounds of 83 apiece.
The Falcons also had four additional individual participants at the Dayton Fall Invitational, meaning that all nine team members saw action this week at the 36-hole tournament.
In her first event since the Redbird Invitational, senior Mikayla Baer carded a first round score of 80, before shaving off a few strokes in the second round of 78. A native of Elmore, Ohio, Baer tied for 28th individually with a two-day total of 158, +18.
Freshman Jessica Madry also participated as an individual for the first time since the Redbird Invitational. Madry earned scores of 80 and 79, for a total score of 159, +19. The mark was the lowest two-round combined score that the Houston, Texas native has turned in thus far in the season.
Making a dramatic improvement from her first round of 86 yesterday, was junior Madelynn Swank. The Clarendon Hills, Ill. native shaved off seven strokes for a second round score of 79, leading to a two-day total of 165, +25, with which Swank ultimately placed in a tie for 56th overall.
The final participant for the Falcons was junior Miranda Dubler, who made her season debut with a final score of 177, +37. Dubler carded rounds of 87 and 90 to place 79th overall.
The Bowling Green women's golf team will be back in action next Monday, Oct. 24 as it takes on The Preview, hosted by Akron in Silver Lake, Ohio.
