Final Results
Oxford, Ohio – Coming off from a great start to the season with two consecutive wins, the orange and brown team took a loss at their first double dual meet of the season. The final scores for the Falcons were 217-83 in favor of the RedHawks and 162-138 in favor of the Herds. Freshman diver, Talisa Lemke, qualified for NCAA Zones on the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Leading the Team
Seniors Maya Skorupski and Victoria Griffin had one individual win each, accumulating valuable points for their team. Skorupski recorded a 55.86 in the 100 backstroke to claim the first win of the night for the Falcons. Later on, Griffin made her third and final appearance of the night to touch the wall first in the 100 freestyle and stop the clock at 51.77 to win the event.
NCAA Qualified
Freshman diver, Talisa Lemke, made her first dual meet season appearance as a Falcon, in which she broke a school record and qualified for NCAA Zones in two events. Originally from Germany, Lemke scored a 266.60 on the 1-meter event to qualify for NCAA Zones and place fourth at the meet. Later on, she qualified for the meet once again, placing second in the 3-meter event with a 323.15 score. Also, that same score gave the freshman her first school record. The freshman is now qualified for NCAA Zones in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, following on the footsteps of sophomore, Claire Stam, who recently qualified for the same meet on the 1-meter event.
Coach's Input
Head coach Matt Ense, who is in his second year leading the BGSU swimming and diving program, shared his thoughts on the Falcon's performance against the Herds and the RedHawks, he commented "The team came out sluggish today and we never hit our stride. We had a few solid performances but across the board we were off from our swims last night. When we come in and face tams like Miami and Marshall we need to come out with more energy and be ready for our races. We saw some great energy from the divers and Talisa Lemke posted two NCAA qualifying scores and broke the 3-meter school record. It is great to have the divers putting up big points for the team".
Starting at 6 P.M. on Friday, Nov. 4, the Falcons will be back in action as they take on MAC opponent, Ball State at their home pool, located in Munice, IN.
