Griffin Qualifies For USA Olympic Trial
With Olympic Trials coming up next summer, the Bowling Green State University swimming and diving program swam in a long course dual meet at University of Akron on the afternoon of Dec. 7 following the three-day Zippy Invitational. The meet was designed to give swimmers an opportunity to qualify for USA Olympic Trials next summer. One Falcon swimmer did just that, as Victoria Griffin punched her ticket to next summer's event in Omaha, Neb. The story of the day was Griffin, a junior from Littlestown, Pa. On the last swim of the first session, she swam a 26.21 in the 50 free to just miss the cut mark of 26.19. But, she had the chance for redemption just 30 minutes later and put up a 26.00 to punch her ticket to next summer's USA Olympic Trials.

Criswell Wins Twice Against Miami
Sophomore Natalie Criswell (Portage, Mich.) picked up two victories to help the Falcons to a narrow dual-meet victory over Miami last Friday. Criswell won the 500 free and 1000 free against the RedHawks. In the 500 free, it was just the second time this season that the Falcons have won the event in a meet, and the first win for Criswell individually in the 500 free. She also won the 1000 free, the second time this season that she has won that event. Criswell has set personal career-bests this season in both the 1000 free (10:24.63) and the 1650 free (17:01.92).

Falcons Knock Off Miami In Thrilling Fashion
Last Friday's meet against Miami came down to the final event, the 400 freestyle relay. Trailing by three points (143-140), the Falcons edged out the RedHawks in the final event for the narrow victory (151-149). For BGSU, it was their first dual meet win over Miami since at least the turn of the century. Several Falcons contributed victories in the meet, of which the Falcons picked up 11. Both relays (400 Medley, 400 Free) picked up first place finishes, while Carrillo, Criswell and Griffin all won multiple events. The Falcons were also aided by individual wins courtesy of Maya Skorupski (100 back), Jordan Bullock (200 fly), and Franziska Wohlert (200 back). Freshman Claire Stam also set a school-record in the 3-meter dive, scoring 266.63.
