Garda Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week For Second-Straight Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second-consecutive week, senior volleyball player Madeline Garda was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Sept. 19) afternoon. Garda led the Falcons to a perfect 4-0 week, which included a 3-0 weekend at the UIC Invitational.

The senior libero from West Chester, Ohio was named the MVP of the UIC Invitational (Sept. 16-17), and was a key part of a Falcon team that did not lose a single set across the entire week. Garda, the best libero in the country according to digs/set, totaled 92 digs on the week. She averaged 23 digs/match and a staggering 7.67 digs/set across the week.

Garda is now averaging a nation-best 6.50 digs/set. To put that in perspective, no other player in the country is even averaging 6.00 digs/set. Garda totaled 24 digs (8.00 digs/set) versus Valparaiso, 22 digs (7.33 digs/set) versus UMass-Lowell, 27 digs (9.00 digs/set) against SIUE, and 19 digs (6.33 digs/set) at Illinois-Chicago.

Bowling Green will open up conference play against Miami University on Sept. 22 inside of the Stroh Center. The game will serve as BGSU's annual Dollar Day. Tickets for the match are just $1, as are hot dogs, soda and popcorn.
