Women's Golf Completes First Day Of Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. – After the first of two days of competition at the Cardinal Classic, the Bowling Green women's golf team currently sits twelfth overall. Through the first two rounds at the event hosted by Ball State, the Falcons tallied 102 pars and eight birdies en route to a total team score of 623, +47.
In the first round of action, sophomore Sarah Kern tallied two of the Falcons four birdies, while senior Fran Rodriguez and freshman Brooke Nolte each earned one in through the first 18 holes. Nolte also racked up a team-high of 13 pars, while the Falcons marked 47 overall in the first round.
Bowling Green then inched up in the standings after the second round to place 12th after the first day of competition by tallying another four birdies. Kern marked two additional birdies for a total of four on the day, while junior Madelynn Swank notched two in the second round to bring up the Falcons total to eight on the day.
"I was pleased to see us come back in the second round," Bowling Green women's golf head coach Stephanie Young said. "We are looking forward to tomorrow's round."
In the standings, sophomore Erin Fahey is currently tied for 24th overall with scores of 77 and 74, for a total of 151.
Rodriguez earned her first day total of 155 by scoring 79 and 76 in the first two rounds and currently sits tied for 43rd, while Nolte carded a 76 and 82 for a total of 158 and sits tied for 58th.
Swank earned marks of 84 and 76 in the first two rounds for a first day total of 160 and is currently tied for 66th. Rounding out the lineup on the first day for the Falcons was sophomore Sarah Kern who made her collegiate debut with scores of 84 and 81 in the first two rounds for a first day final of 165.
The Bowling Green women's golf program will round out the tournament by completing the third and final round tomorrow morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
