Women's Golf Rounds Out First Invitational Of Fall Campaign

NORMAL, Ill. – After two days and 54 holes of competition, the Bowling Green women's golf team rounded out the Redbird Invitational Monday afternoon with a seventh place finish by a team score of 924, +60.
In the third round of play, the Falcons carded an Invitational low of 301, +18, while sophomore Erin Fahey marked a team-leading total of 223, +7 for a tie of ninth place individually. Fahey earned a 76 in third round competition by earning 12 pars.
"I'm proud of the way the team fought back up the board today for a top-half finish," Bowling Green women's golf head coach Stephanie Young said. "We will work hard this week in practice and get ready for Muncie."
After the first two rounds, freshman Brooke Nolte, senior Fran Rodriguez and junior Madelynn Swank were all tied for 52nd overall, although Nolte bumped up to tie for 31st with a final round score of 73, by a total individual score of 232, +16.
Rodriguez then claimed 43rd outright by a third round of 76, for a two-day total of 235, +19, while Swank carded a tournament low of 77 in the third round of play for a total of 236, +20. Senior Mikayla Baer then rounded out the Falcons team competition by tying for 62nd with an Invitational low of 76, and a total of 242, +26.
The Falcons also had freshman Jessica Madry compete as an individual, in which she carded 83, +11 in Monday's play, for a total score of 250, +34 in her collegiate debut.
As a whole, Bowling Green earned the second most pars by tallying 57, in addition to nine birdies. Swank accounted for three of the birdies, while Baer led the team with 14 pars. Nolte and Fahey each marked 13 and 12 pars as well, respectively.
Up next, Bowling Green will travel to Yorktown, Ind. to participate in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State. The two day competition will take place Monday, Sept. 19 and Tuesday, Sept. 20 at The Players Club.
