BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – After helping the Falcons to a 3-2-3 record in the month of November, the Bowling Green hockey program garnered a pair of WCHA Player of the Month accolades. Sophomore defenseman Alec Rauhauser's seven-point November earned him WCHA Defensive Player of the Month, while sophomore goaltender Ryan Bednard's undefeated 2-0-2 streak awarded him WCHA Goaltender of the Month.
A native of Bismarck, N.D., Rauhauser led the WCHA's defensemen by posting three goals and four assists through eight games played in the month of November. In his first career WCHA weekly award, Rauhauser was named WCHA Defensive Player of the week for his efforts at then-No. 5 Minnesota State where he matched his career-high three point night, and marked his first career multi-goal game.
Earlier in the month, Rauhauser notched an assist on John Schilling's game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Michigan Tech, helping the Falcons earn its first win over the Huskies since Nov. 14, 2015. A native of Macomb, Mich., Bednard appeared in six of the month's eight games, where he posted a WCHA-best 1.67 goals against average and league-leading .937 save percentage.
Over the month of November, Bednard earned an undefeated record of 2-0-2, beginning with a successful performance at Michigan Tech on Nov. 4. After marking 27 saves in regulation, Bednard made two critical saves in the overtime session to continue play in the shootout round, where the Falcons were able to earn the extra point in the sixth round with Bednard's performance between the pipes.
The following weekend, Bednard appeared on the box score as he tallied his first career point with the second assist on a Stephen Baylis goal against Lake Superior State. Defensively, the goaltender also stopped 29 of 31 shots taken by the Lakers. Most recently, Bednard saved 23 of 25 shots in 63:55 of action against Miami, where after playing in goal in Friday's third period, he tallied 32 saves on 34 opportunities during 82:09 of action throughout the series.
