BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – After a historic season with the Bowling Green volleyball program, junior libero Kallie Seimet has been named to the 2017 All-Northeast Region Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Seimet becomes just the fifth player in program history to be named to the team.
A native of Oregon, Ohio, Seimet set four Bowling Green volleyball program records in the 2017 campaign, in addition to topping the nation with a 6.81 digs per set average. Seimet was named MAC Player of the Year, which was a league first to be accomplished by a libero, in addition to earning MAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-MAC First Team accolades.
"This is a huge honor for Kallie and our program!" Bowling Green volleyball head coach Danijela Tomic said. "To be selected among the Top-14 players in one of the toughest AVCA regions speaks volumes of Kallie's caliber as a player and the season she had. We are very proud of her and she is so deserving of this recognition."
Seimet is the only player to represent the Mid-American Conference with an All-Region Team honor this season, and has been recognized in the Northeast Region consisting of 13 Big Ten Conference players.
Caty Rommeck (1991) and Tammy Schiller (1990, 1991) were the first Falcons to garner the honor, prior to Madeline Garda (2016) and Jelena Sunjic (2016) last season. Seimet will now become a candidate for AVCA All-American honors.
