Women's Golf Rounds Out Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – After three days of competition, the Bowling Green women's golf program completed the Rio Verde Invitational. The Falcons combined for a tournament-best score of 315 in the third round, to card a team total of 949, +85 over the course of the three days of play.
Sophomore Erin Fahey not only led the Bowling Green squad, but also marked a tournament-best 45 pars across the 103 player field. Fahey marked a team low round of 74 on the first day of competition, on her way to marking a round of 75 in the third round for a three-day total of 226, +10. The score earned the Austin, Texas native a 25th place finish overall, while Fahey also led the team with a 4.13, +3 average on par 4 scoring throughout the tournament.
Finishing second on the Bowling Green lineup was freshman Jessica Madry, who matched her second round score of 78 with another round of 78 in today's play. A native of Houston, Texas, Madry finished in a tie for 77th overall with a final score of 238, +22, in which she earned three birdies and 33 pars over the course of the Rio Verde Invitational.
Junior Madelynn Swank carded a pair of birdies and 31 pars while in Arizona, on her way to marking a final round score of 82, for a total of 240, +24. The Clarendon Hills, Ill. native led the Bowling Green squad on par 3 scoring with a 3.20, +3 average.
With a tournament low round of 80, senior Fran Rodriguez completed the Rio Verde Invitational with a total score of 245, +29. The Flower Mound, Texas native tallied three birdies and 27 pars in the process of bettering her play from the second to third rounds, and was able to shed three strokes off of her score from yesterday's competition.
Also improving on her scores throughout the tournament was sophomore Sarah Kern. A native of Springboro, Ohio, Kern marked one birdie and 18 pars, and cut strokes off each round of competition. Kern shed four strokes off her score from the first to second round, then continued to improve and carded a round of 86 in today's play to lower her score by an additional stroke.
On the final day of competition, Eastern Michigan took over on the leaderboard to claim the team title with rounds of 300, 297, 292 – 889, +25, while Akron's Danielle Nicholson was awarded the individual title by rounds of 73, 70, 72 – 215, -1.
Up next, the Bowling Green women's golf program will travel to Dallas, Texas to take on the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout from March 13-15.
