Seimet Awarded MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Junior libero Kallie Seimet has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week, as named by the conference office on Wednesday morning (Sept. 27). This is the first Scholar Athlete of the Week award for Seimet, who posted a BGSU-record 45 digs against Miami and a total of 89 in two weekend matches. She carries a 3.842 grade point average in Health Science.
The Oregon, Ohio, native broke her own BGSU Volleyball program record when she tallied 45 digs against Miami in the MAC opener. She has eclipsed her personal record three times in 2017 and has a current streak of three straight matches with 44 or more digs. She broke Madeline Garda's school record on Sept. 16 with 44 digs in five sets against Seton Hall, then broke it again against Miami. She followed that with 44 more in five sets against Northern Illinois on Sept. 23.,
Seimet now leads the country with 6.63 digs per set this year and is sixth nationally with 345 total digs. Her efforts have earned four consecutive MAC Defensive Player of the Week awards, and.she also earned her first error-free weekend of the season last weekend with 39 receptions. The Falcons are now 5-8 in 2017 and 1-1 in MAC play. The team earned its first conference victory on Saturday in a comeback five-set thriller against Northern Illinois at the Stroh Center.
BGSUÂ returns to action this weekend with a pair of road matches at Kent State (Friday, 7:00 p.m.) and Ohio (Saturday, 7:00 p.m.). The Falcons' next home match is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 against Buffalo.
