COACH TOMICÂ QUOTEÂ
"I'm happy that we won, especially considering how we started in the first set; nothing was going our way, we were out of system, our offense was out off rhythm and we were making mistakes. Winning that second set was big for us, we didn't want to go into intermission two sets down. Once we kind of collected ourselves, we started passing better and not making so many unforced errors.Â
We knew Toledo was going to be a tough match. I think they're a much more improved team. They were coming off a big win against Ohio in five sets, so we knew it was going to be a fight.
I was glad that we won in front of this great crowd, we had a great attendance, a lot of Falcon fans and we know what beating Toledo means to them."
HIGHLIGHTS
• Toledo's eight attack errors in the first set opened the window for Bowling Green to keep pace with the Rockets after falling behind 4-0 to start the match. The Falcons fought back, taking four of the next five points (5-4), but were unable to create enough momentum, with Toledo taking the first set 25-19.
• In the second set, BGSU came out swinging, taking a quick 7-2 lead, forcing a Toledo timeout. For the entirety of the set, the Falcons lead continued to grow, reaching an 11 point lead by the end of set (25-14) to even the match at one set a piece.
•The third set saw both teams lead while battling throughout the set, which included eight ties and six lead changes. The Orange and Brown were able to create separation with a 13-2 run to close to out the set after trailing 15-12, winning 25-17.
•In the fourth set, the Falcons began with a hot streak, jumping out to a 4-1 lead. From there, the competition was tight with the Rockets taking back the lead at 17-15. BGSU immediately fought back and went on a 10-4 run to win the set (25-21) and match.Â
FALCON STANDOUTS
• The Falcons were again led by freshman Katelyn Meyer in the kills department with 15. Meyer was only one kill shy of tying her career high, set against Eastern Michigan on Oct. 13.Â
• Katelyn Meyer also set a new career high for service aces, landing three.
• Fellow freshman Hanna Laube set a new career high for assists, tallying 36. Laube's previous high of 28 was also set in the last match with Eastern Michigan.
• Kallie Seimet continued to build her career digs, adding 27 more in this contest.Â
