UP NEXT FOR THE FALCONS...Â
The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team begins the home portion of the 2018-19 schedule this week. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will face Marshall University on Tuesday evening (Nov. 13), with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.
The Marshall contest begins a three-game homestand for the Brown and Orange, as BGSU will meet Robert Morris on Saturday (Nov. 17) and Loyola Chicago the following Tuesday (Nov. 20). The latter matchup is the team's annual School Day game, and will begin at 11:00 a.m.
THE FRALICK ERA BEGINS ...
For the BGSU women's basketball program, Tuesday night's game marks the first home contest of the Robyn Fralick Era. Fralick is in her first season with the Falcons after a wildly-successful 10-year stint at Ashland. She spent the first seven of those years on the staff of coaching legend Sue Ramsey before assuming the head-coaching job.
During her three years as head coach, Fralick compiled an eye-popping record of  104-3. The Eagles won the NCAA Division II national championship in 2017 and returned to the national championship game in '17-18 before falling. That loss snapped a 73-game winning streak, the fifth-longest streak in men's or women's college basketball history at any level.
Fralick was named BGSU's head coach on April 3, 2018, and her introductory press conference was held the following afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT: SPARTANS PULL AWAY LATE TO DOWN FALCONS
BGSU mounted a fourth-quarter comeback, but host Michigan State answered that run, pulling away for a 99-69 win on Tuesday night (Nov. 6), in the season opener for both teams at the Breslin Center.
Â
Junior Andrea Cecil had a game-high 19 points to pace three double-digit scorers for the Falcons. Cecil was 4-for-6 from three-point range on the night.
In her collegiate debut, freshman Morgan McMillen had 17 points, and senior Sydney Lambert scored 14 points and dished out a team-leading five assists.
Tuesday's contest in East Lansing was the BGSU debut for head coach Robyn Fralick, a native of nearby Okemos, Mich.
Jenna Allen had 17 points to pace five double-figure scorers for the Spartans, and she had a double-double, with a game-high 15 rebounds. Taryn McCutcheon had 16 points and 12 assists for the hosts.
The Falcons trailed by 16 points at the half, but the Spartans went on a 12-0 run to take a 30-point lead, 61-31, midway through the third quarter. MSU's lead was still 30 points several minutes later, but BG slowly started chipping away.
Lambert's three-pointer with 25 seconds left in the quarter cut the MSU lead to 70-46, and the Falcons then came out running to begin the fourth quarter. Lambert and freshman Molly Dever sandwiched fast-break buckets around a McMillen triple, and Cecil hit a three-pointer from the top of the arc. When McMillen hit a driving reverse layup, the Falcons had scored the first 12 points of the quarter, and the MSU lead was down to 12, at 70-58.
But, Shay Colley snapped a 15-0 BG run with a three-pointer, and Nia Clouden's three-point play gave the Spartans an 18-point lead as the home team began to pull away.
Dever had seven points in her BGSU debut, while fellow freshman Kadie Hempfling had four points and three assists.
WELCOME TO BG!
There are four freshmen on the 2018-19 roster, and all four saw action at Michigan State.
One of those newcomers, Morgan McMillen, was in the starting lineup in her first collegiate game, and classmate Sydney Palermo was BGSU's first sub off the bench.
Another freshman, Kadie Hempfling, made her debut before the first quarter came to an end, and Molly Dever entered the contest early in the second period.
Dever joined McMiller in the lineup when the Falcons took the floor to begin the third quarter. And, when Palermo checked into the game with approximately 5:55 remaining in that third quarter, all four Falcon frosh were on the floor at the same time, for the first time.
The freshmen combined for 28 of BGSU's 69 points in the game, including 15 of the Falcons' 25 first-half points.
EYASSES
The 11 players who saw action for the Falcons on at Michigan State included one senior, two juniors, four sophomores and four true freshmen.

Freshman Morgan McMillen began her collegiate career on a successful note. toÂ
say the least. McMillen played a game-high 38 minutes in the Falcons' contest at Michigan State, scoring 17 points.
McMillen was the first Falcon freshman to post a double-digit scoring total in the season opener in three years, since Sydney Lambert had 13 points in her debut, a win over Illinois State on Nov. 13, 2015.
McMillen's point total was the highest for a BG freshman in her debut in 11 years, since a youngster named Lauren Prochaska had 19 points against Valparaiso on Nov. 9, 2007, inside venerable Anderson Arena.
