
Falcon Volleyball Face Eastern Michigan In MAC Tournament Semifinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Volleyball program are set to face the Eastern Michigan Eagles in the semifinals of the 2018 MAC Tournament. The Falcons' match against the Eagles will take place in Miami's Millet Hall, with five serve scheduled for 4:30 p.m. This will be the second time the Falcons face the Eagles in 2018.
The Falcons defeated the Eagles in four sets (3-1), in their only regular season match of the 2018 season.
EAGLES IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
Versus Kent State, Nov. 15
• Eastern Michigan entered the MAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed, and were forced into a first round match against the No. 8 seed, Kent State.
•The Eagles handed the Golden Flashes an early exit from the tournament. Despite a narrow first set, the Eagles claimed all three sets (28-26, 25-19, 25-20) for their second sweep over Kent State in 2018.
• The Eagles outperformed Kent State in every category throughout the match. In total points, the Eagles picked up 65 points, whereas Kent State only managed 37; the Eagles were more precise in their attack, ending the match with 21 more kills than the Golden Flashes (51-30); the Eagles were better from the end line, totaling more services aces than Kent State by the match finale (5-3); the Eagles out-blocked the Golden Flashes 9-3; and the Eagles were better defensively with 74 total digs in comparison to Kent State's 62.
• With a win over the Golden Flashes, the Eagles earned a quarterfinal match against the No. 4 seed, Buffalo.
Versus Buffalo, Nov. 16
• Buffalo were undefeated in five matches prior to the MAC Tournament.
• Despite losing the first set by seven points, the Eagles bounced back versus the Bulls to win three consecutive sets (18-25, 28-26, 25-17, 25-21),
• After a tough battle, the Eagles and the Bulls were matched in two statistical categories, and close in all other categories. Both sides ended with 73 points, and 62 kills. The Eagles notched one more service ace than the Bulls, with a total of four. The Eagles were bettered by the Bulls in blocking, falling short to their opponent by one block (7-8). Finally, the Eagles managed five more digs than the Bulls (51-46).
KEY PLAYERS FOR THE EAGLES
• Senior Jordan Smith can be a threat to the Falcons. She is at 31 kills throughout seven sets played in the MAC Tournament. The outside hitter is averaging 4.42 kills per set in the tournament.
• Redshirt junior Cassie Haut has a total of 30 kills from 50 attempted attacks in the MAC Tournament. The redshirt athlete posted 21 of her 30 kills in the Eagles' quarterfinal match versus Buffalo, in which she recorded an average of .586 in hitting efficiency.
