BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University volleyball program Head Coach Danijela Tomic has announced the promotion of former Assistant Coach Alex DelPiombo to the position of Associate Head Coach.
"I am excited to announce Alex's promotion to Associate Head Coach," stated Tomic. "Her recruiting efforts and work on the court with our players have been an invaluable part of our successes. Alex is a loyal, passionate, hardworking, caring and intelligent young coach who is a great mentor to our student-athletes, and who makes others around her better."
In her three year stint as an assistant volleyball coach for the Falcons, DelPiombo saw the addition of four new banners in the Stroh Center that honor consecutive Mid-American Conference regular season titles, and back-to-back National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) appearances in 2017 and 2018.
"I am humbled and grateful to be promoted to Associate Head Coach of this exceptional BGSU volleyball program," DelPiombo said. "I am excited about the future of our program and my small part in our current and future success. I am motivated to continue to work hard to honor and help our team and University in their commitment to make BGSU Volleyball great. I would like to thank our team for being outstanding young women who inspire and motivate me daily. Also, thank you to our administration and Coach Tomic for the support and acknowledgement."
DelPiombo will enter her fourth season as a part of the Falcon Volleyball coaching staff in the fall of 2019. She joined the Falcons in February 2016, bringing over 15 years of coaching and playing experience.
"The best is yet to come for BGSU Volleyball, and I look forward to working with Alex and the rest of our staff on building more championship teams and developing young women of character," Tomic said.
