Falcons Host Arch-Rival Toledo, Celebrate Senior Day This Weekend
February 01, 2018 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Five Falcon student-athletes will be recognized in their final career home meet when the BGSU swimming and diving team hosts the University of Toledo on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning (Feb. 2-3). Bowling Green will honor the careers of Kylie Bosco, Natalie Criswell, Maria Galic, Emily Ridge, Elodie Schreiber, and Amanda Washko as part of the two-day, 19-event dual meet. The recognitions will take place on Friday following the fourth event, and the meet will be held at Cooper Pool, which is located within BGSU's Student Recreation Center. The Falcons arrive at the final dual of the 2017-18 season with a 3-4 record. They are 0-3 against Mid-American Conference schools.
COACH SAYS...
BGSU Swimming and Diving head coach Matt Ense said, "This weekend will create a great environment for our seniors to have a special weekend competing against our rival. This will be our seniors last time to compete for the Falcons in a dual meet setting, and it will be their last time to race at Cooper Pool. The meet will be contested over two days and will be our last chance to make adjustments before we head to MAC's in three weeks."
LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, Jan. 27 in Athens, Ohio, four Falcons combined to win five of 14 individual events, as BGSU fell to Ohio. The Bobcats won the dual meet 169.5-130.5. BGSU swimmers won three races while taking second place in six. Meanwhile, Talisa Lemke swept the two diving events, and second place in both was split between Claire Stam and Ashley White. Individual Falcons set four new personal records, as well as a separate season-best time, while the team ended the meet with 20 individual top-three finishes.
Lemke earned the sixth diving sweep of her sophomore season. She captured the one-meter title with a 299.63, outpacing the closest Ohio diver by 67 points. In the three-meter competition, she tallied a 320.63, which was 70 points better than the nearest Bobcat. In the 200 butterfly, Sarah Hennings finished in 2:04.27 and won by 1.91 seconds. Later, the Falcons secured the top three spots in the 200 backstroke. Franziska Wohlert touched after 2:05.04 for her third win of the season. Freshman Jordan Andrusak captured BGSU's final win of the day when she took first in the 200 IM (2:06.95). Andrusak led the Falcons with three top-three finishes.

In the two meets against Akron and IUPUI, Toledo swimmers combined for 12 event victories, including ten in Indianapolis. Senior Allison Dicke led the way with two wins and two second-place finishes. Both wins were in the 50 free. Sophomores Bec Welke and Izzy Jones each won twice against the Jaguars; Welke swept the breaststroke events, while Jones won the 200 free and 200 back.
