FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After falling behind by a 3-0 margin early in the game, the Bowling Green State University baseball team scored four unanswered runs to earn a come-from-behind victory at Fort Wayne. BGSU improves to 7-17 on the season with the 4-3 road victory.
"Sometimes, you have to win some ugly games, and that's what we did today," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "It was nice to see our guys chip away after getting down early. I'm proud of our guys for finding a way to win, and not giving up. Our pitching staff did a great job in keeping us in the ballgame, and our offense came around late."
With the score tied at 3-3, R.J. Williams led off the top of the ninth inning with a walk. After a strikeout, Justin Mott put runners on first and second with a base hit to left field. Williams advanced to third on a fly out, before Jake Wilson drove in the game-winning run with a two-out single to second base.
Brad Croy pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the save. He left the game-tying run at third base with a strikeout to end the ballgame. Bowling Green hosts Eastern Michigan this weekend at Steller Field for a three-game series. The series begins with a 3:05 p.m. first pitch on Friday, March 30.
