PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Bowling Green State University volleyball program split a pair of matches on Friday (Aug. 31) at the Duquesne Tournament in Pittsburgh. The Falcons dropped a five-set match to Duquesne in the tournament opener, before earning a 3-0 win over Youngstown State in the night cap.

• All four schools will enter tomorrow's action with 1-1 records.
• With a BGSU win over UNLV, coupled with a Youngstown State win over Duquesne, and the Falcons would take first place.
• If Bowling Green and Duquesne win tomorrow, then the Falcons would finish in second, given that Duquesne would own the head-to-dead tiebreaker with BGSU.

TEAM NOTES FROM VICTORY NO. 1
• Bowling Green's win over Youngstown State marked the Falcons first win of 2018.
• By winning the first set, 25-20, BGSU claimed the first set for the first time this season.
• The 3-0 win marks Bowling Green's first sweep on a neutral court since sweeping SIUE on Sept. 17, 2016. That win came at the UIC Invitational, where the Falcons won all three matches on the weekend while not losing a single set.
• The Orange and Brown hit a season-high .312 against the YSU defense. BGSU held the Penguins to a .103 hitting percentage – the lowest clip for a BGSU opponent this season.

HUGE DAY FOR IZZY
• Senior Isabel Kovacic led the Falcons in kills in both matches. On the day, Kovacic posted 30 kills and hit .314 (30-8-70).
• Kovacic racked up 16 kills and hit .286 against Duquesne, prior to recording 14 kills and hitting .357 in the win over Youngstown State.
• The senior now leads the Falcons in kills (45) and kills per set (2.65) on the season.

STRONG INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES THROUGHOUT THE DAY
• Kallie Seimet averaged a phenomenal 6.88 digs per set over the two matches. The senior is now averaging 6.57 digs per set on the season.
• Isabelle Marciniak notched 41 digs against Duquesne, before a huge performance against Youngstown State in which she totaled 37 assists (12.33 assists per set) in just three sets.
• Paulina Iacobelli turned in a pair of double-digit dig efforts. Iacobelli registered 11 digs against Duquesne, and 10 digs versus Youngstown State.
• Katie Kidwell posted nine kills while hitting .533 versus YSU. In the match against Duquesne, the sophomore finished with six kills and six blocks.
• Macie Linne finished the day with 16 kills, registering seven kills at Duquesne and nine kills versus YSU, respectively.
• Jacqueline Askin finished the Duquesne match with 10 kills. She has now notched double-digit kills in two matches in 2018. She finished with 11 kills versus Oakland earlier in the week.
• Madeline Brandewie added nine kills on the day for the Orange and Brown.
